Upper Trunk Rotation
(in ½ Kneeling Position)



- Assume a ½ kneeling position with a dowel behind or in front of shoulders.

-Position your downward knee and forward foot in approximately the same line or as close to this as possible.
-Rotate toward the up knee as far as you can without losing your balance.

-Remain as tall as possible, do not lean forward during entire exercise.

-Repeat exercise with other knee down and opposite foot up.
-Note any differences in range of motion & stability regarding left/ right rotation.

-Work on the side that is lacking range of motion/stability.

Competency Criteria

Client is able to maintain ½ kneeling position without losing balance.

Client remains tall throughout entire exercise.

Client has no Left/Right differences.

Client is limited in Right rotation.

Client is limited in Left rotation.

Progress to adding tubing on stick for added resistance (which requires the assistance of a partner).
